Days 13/14

Day 13

Today was one of our last days at the orphanage. We are taking Sunday off and on Monday going on a 5 day safari to the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. We will be back to the orphanage on Sunday the 31st for our last day and to say goodbye. I will most likely not have internet during the Safari so this will be one of the last posts until Saturday.

In the morning of the 23rd we had a free day with the kids. We started by having them all draw paintings for a volunteer social worker from Sweden who was leaving that day. After that we practiced some English and reading and had the kids read to us, some in Swahili and some in English. In the afternoon we participated in their athletic time and then they gave a special presentation to the social worker who was leaving. They did many different dances, drumming and acrobatics. It was really cool to see.

That night we went to the Watering hole where we have been going regularly and it was packed for an amazing band. It was a blues/jazz/funk band and they were from all around the world. Germany, France, U.S. and Tanzania. I brought some other people we met from Utah and had a great time. I will definitely miss that place.

Day 14

We got to sleep in today for the first time. Did some pool chilling, got some good food and then in the afternoon we went up to the mountain and hiked to a really cool waterfall. Its about 60 feet high and is near a really cool tribal village which we visited afterward.

After that we all packed up and we are now getting ready for our safari.
